State stair lift regulations vary, but in the state of Georgia the distance between the chassis and the opposite wall of a stair lift must be at least 20". The distance between the wall on which a stair lift rests, and the lift track is not mandated unless a handrail is present. If the handrail is left on the wall, then we must leave an extra 3.5" of space to accommodate the handrail. Our customer was thrilled to now be able to safely access all floors of his home!
