1. Measure the opening first

Check the narrowest usable width and height of the trunk or hatch opening. A roomy cargo area does not guarantee the scooter can pass through the entry. Curved edges and a raised trunk lip can make the angle harder.

2. Compare the folded setup, not the riding size

Use the manufacturer's folded length, width and height for the exact model. Check whether that figure excludes the seat or battery. Leave space for removed parts, shopping bags and the seats you need to keep upright.

3. Check what you actually have to lift

Look for the heaviest-piece weight, not just the total weight. Ask what must be removed to reach that figure. A lift from the floor is different from lifting over a car sill; do not attempt a load that feels unmanageable
