Project Overview
This project involved designing and installing a custom EZ-ACCESS® 3G Pathway® ramp system for a customer who urgently needed safer home access due to worsening medical conditions.
Customer Story & Needs
The customer’s mobility had been declining over time, and he required a ramp quickly to maintain safe entry and exit from his home. After conducting a ramp assessment on Thursday, we reviewed both used and new ramp options. The customer called the following day to discuss these options and evaluate what would work best for his needs.
By Monday, he decided to proceed with a new ramp system, as we did not have enough used ramp material available for the length required and he needed the installation as soon as possible. He contacted us late Monday afternoon to confirm his decision with his wife, and we scheduled the installation for the very next day, once the ramp design was finalized.
During the assessment, the customer initially requested a switchback ramp. However, after asking additional questions, we discovered his main goal was to have a safe place to rest during the ramp transition. He also emphasized that the ramp needed to land directly on his driveway to minimize walking distance between his home and vehicle.
Additionally, neither he nor his wife wanted to lose their existing stairs, so maintaining the stairs was a priority in the ramp design.
Due to the location of his porch, a switchback design would have required an additional platform to reach the driveway, increasing the project cost. We provided 2–3 alternative ramp designs that would land directly on the driveway while preserving the stairs and meeting his accessibility needs.
Installation Process
Our team performed a detailed site assessment and designed a custom EZ-ACCESS® 3G Pathway® ramp system that prioritized safety, accessibility, and efficiency. The chosen design provided a smooth, slip-resistant surface and a sturdy, low-maintenance aluminum structure suitable for outdoor use.
The installation was completed the next day, and the customer was extremely satisfied with the final result.
Project Timeline
From the initial assessment to final installation, the entire process was completed within just a few days — providing immediate access and peace of mind for the customer and his family.
Final Outcome
The finished EZ-ACCESS® 3G Pathway® ramp system offers a safe, stable, and visually clean entrance that aligns seamlessly with the home’s exterior. Most importantly, the customer can now enter and exit his home safely and independently — with a ramp landing that allows for easy transition to his driveway and vehicle while keeping their stairs intact.
